Ilex is the o'rant farm hand that Haddock sends to help Bardon. He doesn't break the kindia, but sits on the fence, ready to pick Bardon up should he fall. He gives Bardon a drink and a sandwich after he breaks the eldest of the kindia. He is a nice man and warns Bardon that Haddock might not pay him if he didn't go to him directly after, but then again, Haddock could take a liking to Bardon and pay him either way. Ilex was also present for N'Rae's breaking method, which worried him, but he still gave Bardon advice on what to do and how to get his pay.
